Good Evening Everyone,
I do hope you are all well and are able to follow the quarantine rules as strictly as you possibly can. I know that in the Cobra Family we have doctors, nurses, and medical staff who are working tirelessly to help fight this terrible virus. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service during this most horrendous time. I also know how difficult it is for the rest of the family as Leslie, my wife, also works in a hospital and it is so very worrisome. All we can do is support each other and follow the rules to the absolute possible best of our abilities.
I hope the children are managing OK with their on-line studies. They are probably faring a great deal better than I am as I spend most of the day trying to align assignments to Schoology, and then finding the homework assignments to grade. The children are more adept around computers and I am sure they are fine. Please tell them all I said “Hi”, and to keep up with their schoolwork as well as their technical drills.
Just a quick update of some of the items that have been relayed to me regarding the various leagues and competitions we are in, or could be in:
CASA contacted the club directors again to notify us that if we are back playing in the C.A.S.A. league in May, then the State Cup dates are:
Preliminary Matches - May 15-17, 2020
Semi-Finals and Finals - May 29-31, 2020
Should we not be playing in May, (which I anticipate we shall not be), then the dates will be:
Preliminary Matches – June 26-28, 2020
Semi-Finals and Finals - July 18-19, 2020
all locations remain the same regardless of the dates.
Should we not be back in May then we were informed that the C.A.S.A. league would play during June and July. However, if this is indeed the case, we need to reframe our thinking and decide what exactly we are capable of doing. The owners of the leagues and the tournaments want the events to run regardless of the timeframe. I will take each month as it comes and address our options directly with you. As always, I want Cobra decisions to be totally transparent to you all.
In regards to the N.P.L G.L.A. (U18/19’s) League, once again, the league fixtures shall be played to the full extent providing each team is able to reschedule their games. However, I am most upset to say, that owing to the time delay, there shall not be a National Championship this year. Once again, if we do not start until June we shall probably have issues.
In regards to the G.L.A. P.A. (U17 and U18’s) League, once again, the league fixtures shall be played to the full extent providing each team is able to reschedule their games. However, the serious issue with this league is that a number of the high school and university facilities we use have shut down all together so new venues need to be sought after. As with the 18/19’s, owing to the time delay, there shall not be a National Championship this year.
In regards to the State Cup: I have contacted the Got Soccer representatives to see their intentions and I have been informed that there will not be a Regional or National event for the State Cup winning teams.
We need to take into consideration that high school players will be participating in their respective summer leagues, and captain’s practices. There will be other youth sports taking place, and families will most certainly want to get away for some time to decompress. If we can get everything in and be fully competitive, then great; however, none of us want a half-ass situation where we don’t have enough players to show our true worth. Let’s see what unfolds and then take up a course of action.
Here is another video for you and the payers to watch. This is a fun one with some sumptuous skills and goals by the very best players in the world.
Of course, don’t forget to show the girls Kipper’s video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBrtaM_6Txo
The girls should watch this video of our Cobra girls when they were 14/15. This is simply one of the most technically gifted group of girls we have ever had.
God Bless You All,
